Monastic Secondary English Boarding School was established in 1986 by Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Sah. He first started the school at his village, Matihani, Nepal when he was still a medical student. The school was established in a small building at Mathaini with 3 boys and 2 girls. In late 1986 the school moved to Janakpurdham (kingdom of king janak – Hindu mythology) at rented building in Bhanuchowk. Originally only kindergarten and primary classes were offered, but as the students progressed through the school, the higher levels were offered till 10+2.
By 1989, there were about 200 students on the roll, and about 500 by 1991. As the school grew, the founder Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Sah left his medical practice and was involved completely in the school. Mrs. Veen Devi Sah (wife of Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Sah) was incharge of boarder and kindergarten. Both of them worked together day and night for the better care of the children in the school.
Dr. Mithilesh Kumar believed in quality education and self-reliance for boys
and girls, aiming to equip them for full participation in public life for the betterment of the nation. He started the school with the motto of ‘Quality education for Quality life’.
In 1992 the school moved to new building with bigger area as the number of students increased in the school. In 1996, the school constructed separate senior block at Mills area, Janakpurdham. By 2010, total number of students reached to 2200 with more than 150 staff members.
In 2011, the founder Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Sah was diagnosed with cancer. But he didn’t lose his hope and after 1 year of treatment he came back to the school with more energy than before.He said “ I feel more energetic than before” so, his love for quality education lead him to be a great example and motivation for many. In 2013 school started construction of modern infrastructure for junior section in Bhanu Chowk. New building will be having spacious classrooms, computer center ,science laboratory, library, auditorium etc for Monastic pre-school and primary school.
Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Sah passed away fighting cancer in early 2014, leaving behind his wife ,son and two daughters, who are collectively managing the school on the footsteps laid by him.
